Does anyone know if all of your WAS contacts have to be from the same location? I was real close then moved to AZ. Do I need to start over?

Randy,
for the ARRL WAS award, you can operate from different locations, but no 2 locations can be more than fifty miles apart. So think of it as being within a 25 mile radius of your home to be on the safe side.
You will not be able to combine contacts made from Colorado with contacts made from Arizona, but you may be able to combine contacts made from a mountain top with contacts made from home, just be careful about the 50 mile rule.

Do it on VHF then...you guys in the west have a real chance of doing it on 6 meters in the coming years.

I hope you are right! I can't wait. I was licensed in 02, we were well on our way to the bottom of the cycle then. I have heard of contacts with Japan on 10W 10M FM from the states... that would be cool.

WAS took me longer to achieve than DXCC. There are a few states that can really be elusive. One of the ways to pick up a bunch of contacts is to see which state is having a QSO party and nail a few of them then. At least one should confirm the contact.
By the way, my contacts are all confirmed by actual QSL card. I use e-QSL it's only good for its own awards and not recognized by ARRL. LotW is a royal pain in the butt to set up and maintain. Once you get the account set up with their double secret encrypted certificates, you have to get your logging program to work uploading the contacts. I found it easier (although not cheaper) to do QSL cards. Plus, now I have something to cover that big white spot on the wall where I used to have that black velvet picture of Elvis hanging.
