Meet up at the gas station north of Shea/Fountain Hills on the 87 at 8am.
Talk in frequency Mt. Ord 146.92.

We're going to go do some exploring north of our Field Day site. There are a lot of pine trees and cooler weather up there. Pack your lunch.

Most of the day, but you could probably skip out early. I'm not planning on getting home until dark.

Great day. Marcia and I met Randy and Richard as planned at 8am. We drove north to Payson as it was already heating up in the valley. After topping off with gas in Payson, we made our way to FR300. We followed it east stopping at the General Springs Cabin. From there, we continued east until turning north on FR321. A few miles in, we found a wonderful place in the shady pines to stop and eat lunch.

After hanging out there for an hour it started raining on us. We jumped back into the Jeeps to keep dry and continued north in the rain. FR321 drops into a killer canyon where it meets up with FR95. We followed that all the way back to Highway 87. From there, we explored some forest service roads north of Blue Ridge Reservoir that had turned quite muddy. We eventually made our way back to the Blue Ridge Resevoir overlook/parking area.

From there we aired up and headed south. Richard took the 260 towards Camp Verde to head home and Randy, Marcia and I went back through Payson to stop at El Rancho for some Mexican food. We arrived home around 9:45pm escaping one of the hottest days in Phoenix this year.

Brr, the temperature dropped when it started raining.

It looks like everybody had a lot of fun. The kind of trip we're looking to tag along on. Maybe next time....
