Thanks Marty. Funny thing...I almost didn't make the net. I was helping the XYL on a project and when we got done I almost went to bed, but instead turned on the radio and ended up being the alternate net control. (The bed vs. radio dilemma is pretty much nightly occurrence at my station...score to date: Bed-2, Radio-1,413) For those not listening, the Net Control Script directed discussion of the various public service organizations here in the Valley. For those who were listening, what you probably didn't know is that 4x4 Ham was on the list of organizations to be discussed. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to make it that far down the list, but I thought it was excellent that we made the list.

Any idea if the list is going to be distributed in the post-net report? I was hoping to get more info on a lot of organizations but yeah, the lack of time sure killed that quick.

I'm going to offer up to the "powers that be" that we spend a few weeks on the net talking about each of the organizations listed in detail. Last night we covered FEMA in more depth than I've ever heard anyone cover FEMA. Good info, but took up a lot of time. The ARES discussion also took up quite a bit of time, but that's to be expected. Here's the full list of organizations, plus a few that I thought should have been added: SKYWARN, Red Cross, CERT, MCECG, ARES, RACES, SATERN, M-EOC, and 4x4Ham. I also thought it would be good to discuss Civil Air Patrol, as well as get a guest who could talk to amateur radio integration with HICS at local hospitals and what that looks like in a contingency.
