Flying Pigs QRP Club Run For The Bacon Contest
Fun 2 hour QRP CW sprint. Great for new CW ops, but plenty of fun for OM's too. And...:bacon::bacon::bacon:...need I say more?

Just got done with my 2nd RFTB contest. I started calling at 0100Z on 10m for about 10 minutes, after doing a little pre-contest listening and hearing 10m beacons galore. No luck on 10m, so switched to 15m and called there for 10 minutes. Heard a station tuning up, but no replies to the CQ, so I switched to 20m and started working. W0PQ and AB9CA were solid into Phoenix all evening on 20m. Farthest station worked was NQ2W in Albany, NY...that was a tough contact...took about 10 tries on the exchange to get the info across due to heavy QSB on 20m at that point. Also worked AL, GA, and TN. I made a total of nine contacts in seven states over the two hour contest. I tried 40m from about 0220-0240Z with no luck, so I finished on 20m with no additional contacts.
Again, this is a really fun contest...an easy 2-hour sprint at a gentleman's pace...I enjoyed a nice bowl of stir-fry and some home-made strawberry ice cream while working the bands. The CW speeds are quite manageable, even for relatively new CW operators, and every op I've worked has adjusted to my speed...it's a very friendly group, and a great practice if you're interested in easing into some of the "Big Gun" CW contests later on down the log.
Hope to work some of you in October's Run For The :bacon:Bacon:bacon:! CUL ES 73!
