Been looking for a good FJ60 for a while now, and finally found one worth buying. 1986, H55F (5-speed) transmission, 2.5" OME lift, new 31's, meticulously maintained (owner is a well-known professional Cruiser mechanic), negligible rust, doesn't leak or burn oil.

Cool. So, do you have any plans for it or just drive it as is?

I actually bought it as a surprise for one of my sons who's out doing missionary work, so he'll have something to drive when he gets back. It's in really good running shape right now. I'll put an upgraded headlight wiring harness and better lights in it for sure, and maybe convert the rear drum brakes to discs; haven't thought too far beyond that. I don't want to build it up so much that he's tempted to go wheeling all the time instead of studying at school. :)

Nice truck. Are you looking to adopt any more sons? :-)

That's the bodystyle I like. That and the boxy one from the 70's.

The venerable FJ55 "iron pig". I would like to have one of those too.

I LOVE FJ 60s and up and that is one fine FJ. One of the few vehicles I would replace my pathfinder with. I think an FJ60 with a nice 5/6spd a chevy 6.2 diesel and a nice selection of low range gears is about as close to my dream truck as it gets. (the Nissan patrol gets closer)

Back in 2005 when we were in Crown King, AZ we saw an FJ55 for sale. I had never seen one before and that is a strange looking rig. I think there is a yellow one in Fort Worth that looks mostly straight and complete but needs to undergo some sort of restoration.

Lee, you're going to have a museum pretty soon. That's a nice FJ.

Thanks guys. Like I said, the 60 is going to my #3 son this spring; the XYL might give me a hard time if I kept and built a third 4WD truck (not to mention put radios in it). Funny thing is, even with a dedicated shop in addition to the garage with the house, I have more problems parking everything now than I did when we still had kids at home.

That is an awesome looking vehicle. This trucks are built like tanks, they'll run forever!

They are built like tanks. That's why when there is a revolution in some Third World country, the vehicle you see running around with a 50 cal mounted on it is a Toyota. :)
