Fake Icom IC-V8 HT's have been floating around a while, but a new breed of phony counterfeit Icom radios has now cropped up. Many of these fakes are for sale on Ebay, so beware. Here is a link to Icom's site with details on the new phony Icom products:

Not just a problem for Icom. Also a problem for many other companies. These fakes are really pretty good and hard to tell from the real thing. The really scary part of this is how many counterfeit (and possibly backdoored) devices have made it into places that might be able to listen/change/degrade or stop lots of comms including amateur comms.
