LOL, close enough to visit almost when ever you want but far enough away that if you don't want to come up when someone wants you to you don't have to. I was stationed at Luke for a while and use to drive up to visit home every so often.

I didn't see this one when you posted it. I was just thinking it would be great to have a group of us here and thought I'd see if anyone else ever tried to get something started. I'm in Henderson.

I am on the north side of town near Nellis AFB. I have been trying to see who is around town, I see a few people around with 4WD but most look like they are mall rated and haven't been off-road.

Karl is one of the main reasons for me getting my license. I just got my license less than a month ago. you can follow me Via APRS when i am on the trail. I usually go out about every weekend. I am running a Jeep Wrangle Rubicon stretched with 35" tires and a Kenwood TM-D710 with an Garmin Oregon 400T GPS. What kinda of set up are u running..?

My call is KC7QJO, I run a TM-D700 connected to a Garmin Nuvi 350, Icom IC2820 and a Icom IC100 for GMRS and LMR. I run a Chevy Trailblazer with a 2.5" lift on 265/70R16 AT/S. It stands out a little since there aren't but a couple of us known to be lifted around town.

is there a area you frequent in Vegas for offroading trips? Also is there a common Frequency or repeater used when you go offroading? I was on a run to the Nelson, Nv area to play 2 weeks ago and i had a short qso with another jeeper on Mt Potosi.

Nice articulation! I am still working on some other mods for mine including changing the gears from 3.42 to hopefully 4.10 with a rear locker and quick disconnects for the anti sway bars.

I have been exploring up around apex lately when I go out. I have done some exploring out near Pahrump when I am out there for Baker to Vegas. Depending on the group I am with will depend on the simplex frequency or if there is a repeater in the area I will run the repeater for emergencies. When running around town you can find me on 147.060+ PL100, which is the repeater for Nellis RAC, I am the repeater trustee for the group.

I don't know, I haven't put much thought into one since I have been so busy. In fact I just had to take the afternoon off from work because the roofing lifted up on my garage. Had to fix it before it got worse and with the weather that is coming in.

I moved your trip report posts into the past events forum.

I love it that the Las Vegas 4x4 Hams are is getting active on here, so don't stop posting trips/past events. This thread should be for anyone else to check in and let their presence be known. Please post Upcoming Events (http://www.4x4ham.com/forumdisplay.php?8-Upcoming-Events) in that forum. After the trail run is complete, post your pictures/videos in the same thread and one of the moderators moves it to the Past Events and Trip Reports (http://www.4x4ham.com/forumdisplay.php?9-Past-Events-and-Trip-Reports).

Yeah these last several runs have been really fun having fellow Hams to talk to both on and off the trail! I'm glad that Randy (KF7TKX) finally got his license and a radio. He has just been maniacal about this for the past several months. He has a very cool setup in his Jeep (TJ) with the Kenwood D710 combined with the Garmin Oregon where he can actually see other hams running APRS on the map in real time! I didn't even know that was possible. He's learned more in a few months than I have learned over the past four years with my license.

i agree with you on the check-in and presence be known, but this board is Arizona based. Most activities are are located in Arizona. New members of the board are gonna want to see what kinda activity is involved in there region. Look in region and see how many single post are on here of people looking for members in there region. By me posting the events in this section of the board it keeps the region active and not just the arizona area. I don't mind my post going to the other sections of the board and at least there is a link on the vegas section to see there are active members in Vegas who enjoy the hobby.

Randy (KF7TKX) does have a point. For someone in the Vegas area, they have to thumb through dozens of Arizona events to find a Las Vegas event on the Upcoming Events forum. If any of the other regions start having more events then you've got a cluttered events page. You might want to consider breaking up the "Upcoming Events" forum into sub forums seperated by region. In which case, with the way the groups are seperated, the Vegas and AZ areas would still be on the same forum which accomplishes nothing. Another idea might be for Randy or I or anyone in the Vegas area to create the new event in the Upcoming Events forum and just post the link to it in the Las Vegas Area thread. Just throwing out some ideas. We're trying to get some other local 4x4 Ham's involved in this forum.

The Las Vegas Area thread is a focal point for a newcomer from the Las Vegas area to search for upcoming events in his area. Establishing an Upcoming Events forum for the Vegas area would make it easier for that person to find upcoming events in their area.

Settle down Vegas dudes! I'm examining what options there are. The Upcoming Events is not AZ only. Anything can be posted there from any location. I was simply stating that I would prefer new threads are created instead of continuing to bump this one for trail runs and trip reports/photos.
