I may. I went last year for the first time and swore it would be the last. But it is an excuse to get out of the heat!

That's exactly what I was thinking. You're not the first person I've heard swear on not ever going to Williams again. Was it really that bad?
I wanted to go and setup a 4x4 Ham booth, but it doesn't look like I am going to make it up there.

Unfortunatly... YES
We walked the outside vendors in 5 minutes and the inside area in another 5. It was cool seeing the Icom booth. The only good thing was that My 11 yo got his ticket there.
Hope it is better this year for all involved. :)

Kent, K6FQ and I are planning on going. Maybe we all could get together when we're up there. Pick a freq./system.

Well, Kent, K6FQ, and I returned from Williams last night. I personally wasn't expecting a lot and I basically wasn't disappointed. I did get to meet someone face-to-face that I have emailed with, so that was nice. Williams is a nice little tourist town and the scenery in No. AZ is spectacular!
On Friday there was pretty significant wx that started out with ominous clouds and lightning coming in from Flag. A couple of hours later, rain started and there was thunder and lightning all over the place in downtown Williams and the rain came down at the rate of about 1 inch every 15 minutes or so. In one hour, the temp. dropped from 89 deg F down to 57 deg F! Some of the downtown streets flooded and Kent and I got some video of the storm. When I get the video edited, I will post it on my Youtube page and post a link on this site. The locals seemed to think that the storm was a bit on the wild side even for them at this time of year.
The Rodeway Inn near the east end of town (across from the Iron Horse saloon) advertised Wi-fi but it seemed not to work in our room and the beds were very uncomfortable. The Pine Country Restaurant was clean, very good wi-fi signals, good food service and reasonably priced. Parking sucks though. The local constabulary (including the Kaibab NF rangers) seem to like it for breakfast.
Saturday had more seller and lookie-loos than Friday. Will I go back next year? Probably not just for the Hamfest but maybe to explore other things.
