Do you have too many free weekends in the next several months? MCECG has something for you to do. It's a record year for them already with over 40 events to support this season.

Go to http://mcecg.net and "Log in" on the left. Then choose "Select Events" on the left.

Sat 01/28/12 - JROTC ORIENTEERING AT BOMBOY MINE
As of last night, Dennis KA7VAB was still looking for 10 more volunteers to help.

Jr. ROTC Orienteering is a program that takes High School cadets and turns them loose with a map and a compass to find as many of the "targets" as possible in a 2 hour time frame. Teams have staggered start times over a 4 or so hour period.
MCECG provides a safety net to deal with any emergencies or keeping the cadets "inside" the course.
It wraps up around 2pm when all the targets are retrieved.
I'd like to have three or four Quads and the rest are HIKE IN assignments.
This course is about 50% larger than the others, and there are forest roads through it we can use to truck-pool closer to assignments.
Drive time is just over an hour from north Scottsdale.
I am looking for 20 hams for this one.

Updated request from Mike.

A few public service events have some last-minute openings this month. Go to www.MCECG.net to see which one(s) you might like to try. Several are good for beginners and intermediates.

The Big Event of our year, the Ragnar del Sol Relay Race, also has some openings, especially on Saturday. Look at the other events as an excellent opportunity to get your feet wet before jumping into Ragnar.

Ragnar was a Norse warrior king known for strength, cleverness, and ruthlessness. The 350-or-so runner teams can add insanity to that list of traits. Nonetheless, we hams have the opportunity to test our mettle in this, the biggest emcomm drill in the state. If you haven't decided to join us and get your share of the experience (not to mention be part of the pictures and stories!), go to www.MCECG.net and sign up for one of the radio teams.

Questions? Contact Mike Pulley, WB4ZKA or Dennis Bietry, KE7EJF.

ARrrrrrrr-RAGNAR!!

The rest of the spring events were opened up this morning. I jumped on the Highline Trail April 21 and Barn Burner June 2. Oh, and don't forget the picnic in May!
