I'm wondering if the stock radio in my 2011 JK can be upgraded to the NAV version. Anybody ever looked into it or maybe even tried it? They are available from Chrysler and other sources on the gray market, but I wonder if it's even possible....

My JK came with the 430N RHB (http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/quality/rhb/) pre-installed. Removing your radio and installing it should be plug and play.

I love the in-dash navication and the audio options are nice as well. We got 12 months free Sirius and it also has a 30Gb hard drive that we loaded our MP3's on.

With that said, I wouldn't spend the money to upgrade to one if you don't already have it. The navigation interface is Garmin based, but you are unable to load topo or other maps into it. Also, I have been unable to figure out how to upload/download my waypoints from this unit. I still end up running my old Garmin Nuvi when on the trail.

So, go spend the money on a Garmin Nuvi, iPod, Satellite radio to interface with your existing radio and pocket the savings over the $1500-2000 that Jeep wants for their nav unit. My 2c.
