Let us get a section where the US states are listed, so we can post state specific event?
It will also take away some of the notion that this forum is AZ only...

We will do just that! I saw a nice layout for states on another forum. We will "borrow" it. :)

What about using the Social Groups function for states? http://www.4x4ham.com/group.php

Good idea. I dont know how the groups format would allow them to post and browse events, but it almost sounds like it was made for it. I think forums for states would be more apparent to users than having to search out a group?

I like how they did it here:

I'll check that other site out.

As far as using social groups for that, my reasoning is it isn't just limited to states or countries. For example, users could create a Tucson and Phoenix groups. Or "Southern corner of the Northeast region of Western Iowa" for all that matters. Social groups are cool because they can be user created. I'd like to keep the forum categories to a limitied number. Quality, not quantity. One of my pet peeves is forums that have subforums for every tiniest little group. Again, that's why I think the social groups would work to narrow subgroups down.

I like that idea. Sounds good to me, if members object we can change it. Thanks Virg.

That site is organized well. I'm still torn on going through and creating a huge list of sub-groups. I do understand the need or functionality for different regional groups as far as events and gatherings go. On the other hand, I'd like to support the unity of one large 4x4 Ham group also. For those looking for regional sub-groups, please experiment with using the social groups and report back. If they are not working or serving the needed purpose, we will change things at that point.
