    Default Anyone from Colorado?

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I started off-roading last summer and recently got back into ham radio (I've had my ticket since 1990, but was inactive for a while). I was pleased to find a site dedicated to connecting 4x4 and ham radio together. It looks like this is primarily a site for Arizona. I looked in the regional sections of the forum, but in the 0 sector there hasn't been a post for 7 months. I'm in Northern Colorado and hoping to do some off-roading with other Hams when season starts. I'm specifically interested in a the possibility of doing field day in Roosevelt National Forest and participating in the Colorado 14er event.

Anyone out there from Northern Colorado?

Thanks to those responsible for creating and maintaining this site!

Moderators: I know this probably belongs in the regional section but there isn't any activity there and I didn't want to double post so I put it in general discussion.

    Thanks,

    kd0fds is from Colorado.

One of the cool things 4x4ham.com offers is a live internet stream of the weekly meetings. It is fun to listen in even if you can't check in.

    Hello Kb0hbm,
Well, I am in AZ but do know that there is a very active ham and off-road group in the Denver area. The club is the "Rising Sun Toyota 4X4 Club" Many of the members are hams as they found that amateur radio is much better on the trails than CB. I suggest you take a look at their site. <www.risingsun4x4club.org>. One event that they are involved in is the Cruise Moab event in May. Toyota off-roaders come from all over the country to do the Moab trails with the club. Very well organized.

Sleepy post, but thought I would move past the lurker stage. Colorado Springs jeep owner here, and a recently upgraded general as well.

Another Northern Colorado person here, in fact I think we've talked on air a few times. I'm usually on the NCARC .275 machine weekdays from 6:30-7:00 am, and sometimes hang out on 147.540 simplex in the evenings, from Fort Collins. I'm in CA until Jan 1st.

As for off-roading, I'm a baby wheeler. A pretty stock '97 Wrangler is my toy.

Hi Tim. I've been meaning to reply but it's just slipped off the list of things to do. Yes, there are a few of us 4x4 hams in Coloraod. My QTH is Castle Pines, about 20 miles south of Denver. I've got a stock 2012 JK and don't get out to the trails much but I try to be active in SOTA; I activated three 14ers last summer including the 14er event.

I usually hang out on the 145.145 repeater but I'm not sure if you can hit that from Greeley. Give me a call sometime is you get down in this direction.

    Cheers!

Definitely need to get the Front Range contingent together. If not a winter meet-n-greet, then field day and camping trips!

Hey guys, I hadn't seen the activity on this old thread until I got a private message which popped up in my email. I'll be at the NCARC meeting this Saturday at the Loveland Golden Corral at 8. Maybe we can have a side discussion about getting a local excursion planning. Forest service has most of the trails down, but its not to early to start planning. I can often be found on the 447.275 (100hz) repeater as well as the 446.7375 trbo repeater on time slot 2. Hope to see some of you there.

A few of us met at the NCARC meeting and I've got a list going, shoot me a PM with your contact info if you would like to be added to the list. We'll hopefully be wheeling as soon as things thaw out, and may do an off-road field day excursion.

My call has changed, I'm now NZØZ, but it hasn't changed here yet.

Is that the last 2x1 call alphabetically? Thought maybe you moved to New Zealand.
