Looks good! Is it a Disco? A Defender is the only Rover model I can identify on sight.

I'm on my second Rover. Had a Discovery and liked it, now have an LR3. LR3 has a lot of features but can be expensive on upkeep, maybe too much electronic black boxes.

So you replaced a Mexican Dodge with an Indian owned UK built Land Rover? Hardly an upgrade.

    Cool

    Hmm

Well, to be fair, LR was owned by BMW at the time the Disco IIs were built. Does that help? Put it this way though, there is a HUGE business in the UK now rebuilding Defenders and Disco Is as the real LR owners don't want the 'new' DC100 defenders that will be made in India. I sure as hell wouldn't want one. I have a Disco I 1993 to go with my 1994 XJ Cherokee from and it runs just fine!

It could be worse, brother-in-law here wants to or has bought a great wall, I dunno if if you blokes have heard of them and you government probably has too much sense to let then into the US but they are a fine piece of Chinese engineering.

I hope I don't have to keep towing him home, he lives 2,000 Km from me but he'll be down here at the end of the month (if it makes it that far?).

At a quick glance, the Great Wall looked like a Nissan to me. Not surprising I guess, based on what was written at the "carsguide" link about how the company has gotten in trouble for looking like a Fiat in Italy. Oh well, direct from the land of cheap knock-offs.

    Well,
They are holding up here in bumpy Christchurch very well! The engines are Mitsubishi, gearboxes and transfer cases are Borg Warner and the axels are clone so the Toyota Hilux as is the chassis. Plastics are nothing to write home about but they ARE cheap!!

That is good to hear Oliver is it? I know nothing of them but would be very nervous to set out too far in one on my own.

Another vehicle I see here recently but know nothing about is the Indian Mahindra, you know anything about them? And how's it all going in shaky Christchurch, we have had quite a few rattles here too over recent years but the biggest was only about 5.3 or thereabouts.

And for KT7DAD and all you other L.R. fans.

Here is another Rover pic for the Landrover fans though the huge response to the last picture suggests they are few in number?

I put it here because the "hamrover" thread was older than 550 day so refused to let me post it there.

Good catch on the D1. I had a 2004 D2 that committed suicide last February. I loved it, but when the cylinder liners started letting go I had to turn it. It was a great rig other than the engine. I wish there would have been a good legal swap to a 4.3l Vortec.
