Default Has anyone installed a Yaesu FT-2900R in 100 Series Land Cruiser?

Would like some suggestions on installing a Yaesu FT-2900R in a 98-07 Toyota Land Cruiser. Bought it before thinking it through and having difficulty in figuring out where it would be best to mount. Rather not mount in console and might just have to anyway.

Hope someone has faced this before and has some suggestions.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I answered your thread on ih8mud. Per that thread, you have limited yourself pretty severely from the usual mounting places. The 2900 is a terrific trail radio, but possibly a radio with a detachable (and remotely mounted) faceplate would be a better choice for you. Then you could mount the main radio unit under the seat and the much smaller control head and mic on the dash or on the center console.

Needed someone to tell me what I already knew. May just put in the center console as there isn't any other place that makes more sence.

    Thanks for the assistance.

Remote head for sure! Can even use a cup holder mount.

If you choose to go detachable and want to off load the 2900, let me know. I'm about to pull the trigger on buying a new one for my trail rig.

Here is a solution for mounting radios http://www.consoles.com.au/Toyota_La...se_console.htm or http://www.4wdinteriors.com/roof_console.html that might interest you?

Make me an offer as I have failed finding a good place to mount.

One of those would be great but I have a sun roof. Wonder if one is made with that in mind?

Hmmm I don't know, there are shelves for some models but I'm not sure about the 100 series.
