    Default 13 Colonies Event

Ends at midnight east coast on Saturday 7/7.

Just got the last one, so clean sweep plus WM3PEN. All on 100w SSB and a Butternut. 20M and 40M.

For me, Rhode Island, VA, and NJ on 40M

They should all be on the air tomorrow for the final push.

    A bunch are on tonight.

    Anyone else work this one?

I only got NH on PSK31 last weeked. Haven't had a chance to get on since then. Now that it's the weekend again it looks like we're having a big solar storm. Perfect timing!

Worked this CW last year and only made contact with 7 of 13. I think they lean more towards SSB ops, but it was still a fun time. Nice work, Marty.

The one station that I listened to on 40M CW had a big disorganized pile-up.

I avoid simplex CW pile-ups. Much prefer split where I can listen to the station without folks covering him up while he's responding.

No DX Code of Conduct for this event.

I just got on the radio for a bit and didn't hear any of the 13 Colonies stations. The bands aren't as bad as I thought they'd be though. I worked a guy in KS on 10m CW at about 9pm PDT. I didn't hear anyone else on 10m though. 20m is still pretty busy. I just worked a Brit on vacation in Hawaii who was mobile using a Hamstick to work 20m PSK. Maybe the longest callsign I've ever worked - KH6/G4KHG/M. Hope he wasn't driving

Hopefully the bands will be decent tomorrow and I can work a few of them. I've only made one SSB QSO ever so maybe I'll bust out the microphone and try it that way.

Congrats on getting all of them Marty.

Marty, meant to ask and forgot. Are there any tricks to finding the stations? Are they showing up on the DX clusters?

I just used the Eham spotter. Originally I was just spinning the dial.

Didn't really plan on hitting it hard, but one evening I did 4 or 5 so I couldn't turn back.

I should have Googled it sooner. They have a spot page linked off their main page. Found 2 of them on 20m PSK this morning but the path just isn't good to the East coast right now. One of them couldn't get my full call. The other couldn't hear me at all apparently. Looks like 10m may be open today but doesn't seem to be yet. Maybe they'll get on there. Now that the family's awake, maybe I can try SSB.

I have 11 out of 13 mixed mode. North Carolina is AWOL on 20 CW and I can't hear Connecticut on 40 SSB.

Still nice work! NC was on 20 PSK this morning but they couldn't hear me. I only ended up with 1 and got that one the first day.

Certificate came today. Nice professionally printed. I mailed in the log on 7/7.

A well run event. I had given up on these kinds of things as on occasion I never received the certificate from an event even after paying.

Hats off to the 13 Colonies Event.
