Greetings! I am a General amateur radio operator and avid off road adventurer. I grew up around ham radio with my father, and grandfather both being ham nutz! I am a previous certified EMT and I donate my time and experience when possible to local events such as rally races, endurance rides, and I am a member of the local ARES chapter. I operate a 2001 Dodge Cummins turbo diesel quad cab that I am constantly adding toys to for better off road capability as well as communications package. I am currently studying for my Extra as well as my code skills for CW. My truck is equipped with a Yaesu FT-8800r dual band, a wide band scanner, APRS capability, and 4 wired NMO mounts on a custom antenna bar/light bar. For portability, I have a 4u roadie box with removable front and rear fully stocked with a mini-AGM battery with power pole connectors, Yaesu FT-450 with LDG YT-450 antenna tuner, Yaesu FT-8800r dual band, SignaLink USB sound card modulator for digital modes, shared 4 inch speaker, and LED lighting. As easy as it is for me to set this up in all of 60 seconds, my portable antenna problems are still being hammered out (photo of box set up view able on QRZ).

My call sign is vanity based upon the Subaru SVX. I am the founder and server administrator of the SVX world network (http://www.subaru-svx.net) started almost 12 years ago. I have several of these cars, my first being retired to dedicated race-car with 12 years of competitive racing behind its bumpers.

I am one of 4 active amateur radio operators that gather regularly for off grid camping and radio activities. We are currently planning to participate in some SOTA activities in the next few weeks. Although there are several choices in local amateur radio clubs in the area, none of them have a comfortable feel for myself nor the others I spend time with.

Thanks for this forum and group of like minded individuals

Welcome to the forum Chris! Post up the dates and times of your SOTA excursions if you have time and I will listen for you.
