It is pretty rough out there and a long way from anywhere as the sign shows and obviously no place for European vehicles.

Or tourists either by the look of this http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...site=kimberley.

It would be hilarious if a bunch of folks in Jeeps and/or Toyotas could make a successful followup run.

    Cool

Should of brought a Toyota Land Cruiser full of shock absorbers to repair them. Bwaahahahahah !! And they could have saved the $5,000 for airfreight. Bwaaahahahahah !!!

The Canning Stock Route is a pretty famous track, done all the time in Nissans and Toyotas. Although in fairness they'd generally not being running stock suspension.

    Default A few CSR photos

    CSR = Canning Stock Route

Here is a bit of a story and a small smattering of the photos I took along the CSR in 2010.

There was three vehicles set out from near Melbourne, Victoria to Wiluna West Australia, 2 Landcruisers and my old Hilux, a distance of 3434 Km just to get to the start of the CSR. The Nullabor plain between Port Agusta SA and Norsman WA boasts perfectly strait sections of rail of 478 Km and a 146.6 Km section of road so you are unlikely to wear out your steering box on that bit of road. It took 4 days just to get to Kalgoorlie where we stocked up on supplies as it was the last town of any size for many a mile.

    IMGP1372.jpg

Part of the Super Pit, the Kalgoorlie gold mine with some of the old workings visible from 100+ years ago.

Unfortunately the area had just been hit with an earthquake that damaged many of the pubs in Boulder so that was out Boulder is I think the main residential section of Kalgoorlie but with wrecked pubs needless to say we pressed on arriving at Wiluna the next day after further 535 Km.

    IMGP1486.jpg

Our vehicles all of which were pretty much stock

    IMGP1530.jpgIMGP1555.jpgIMGP1791.jpg

    Other travellers vehicles

    IMGP1538.jpg

Savoury Creek, I am told it can be challenging but we had no problem with it.

    IMGP1564.jpg

The Fuel Dump, some people get fuel sent out from the Capricorn Roadhouse but it is only about 1/4 of the way up so we did not bother. The other problem is I think you have to take a full drum and I had no way of carrying it being the only petrol powered vehicle.

    IMGP1640.jpg

We fuelled up here near well 33 at an aboriginal community, the only one between Wiluna and Billaluna about 1900 Km. Price was $3.25 Litre or about $13.00 US gal cash only.

    IMGP1671.jpg

Possibly the bit of track that claimed the Mercedes

Default A few CSR photos #2

    IMGP1807.jpg

We stopped for a chat with these blokes heading South as you do here, we were nearing the end at this stage and they warned us about the mud ahead. They had Troopy following as a backup vehicle.

    IMGP1831.jpg

Some of the mud we were warned about

    IMGP1842.jpg

I think the second biggest after your Meteorite Crater?

    IMGP1863.jpg

Back on the HWY (Tanami Track) one of our fuel trucks.

    IMGP1898.jpg

One of our bushes with the encounter with the mud visible on the lux.

    IMGP1900.jpgIMGP1902.jpg

Where they filmed some of the Crocodile Dundee movie back in Queensland at McKinlay.

    IMGP1970.jpg

How we put the corrugations in the road in front of Mercedes 4x4s.

    IMGP2007.jpg

And finally, an Aussie 4x4, a Holden Sandman panel van.

    Screenshot-1.jpg

~11,000 Km trip, you will have to draw the line between points A and D because google wont let me cross the CSR

I hope you enjoyed that lot?
