    Default Transceiver Kit

    MST400

I don't know if anyone here is interested but I just saw this on the VKLOGGER forum and though I'd share it.

It looks quite good, I think I'll follow it up and see what the hurt is?

    Looks like a fun project.

I'm just finishing up a Genesis G59 SDR (also a kit put together by an Aussie) http://www.genesisradio.com.au/ It's been slow going as it is my first kit radio project and I've only been working on it a little here and there. Maybe not the sort of thing you're looking for if you want a back-country QRP rig but very versatile and a lot of fun to put together.

    That looks great Brian.

How have you found the going so far?
What are your impressions of it?

I've played with the receive quite a bit and it's pretty amazing. It uses a modified version of PSDR (which is what the Flex Radios use). Being able to see the entire band at once (at least on the narrower bands) is fun. I've got the 10W amplifier almost done and I'm just waiting on a few parts that were missing to get it on the air.

The assembly was difficult, I won't lie. The directions are a bit lacking for a new kit-builder but all of the questions I had were already answered on their Yahoo group and I got through it. I also got stuck a few times due to having to wait on missing parts. The inventory checked out but when I got started building, the inventory sheet didn't always match what was needed. Other than some minor setbacks like that, it was very enjoyable.

I understand their new radio, the G11 has better instructions and is faster to put together. Also, they're working on a new radio called the G6 that sounds incredible. ~200KHz to 450 MHz, built in ADC/DAC, lots of other cool features.
