    Default Echolink in AZ

So, I am curious if someone would be willing to host an Echolink repeater node on the net frequency if the equipment was provided. Of course this would have to be done with the blessing of the Arizona Repeater Association. Until then, I will continue to use the chat room, and thanks to N7IYT - Richard for my previous two weeks of relay

The ARA doesn't sanction relay of their repeaters. They have had too much problems with interference by people leaving the relay up. There has been a couple times of someone bringing up a crossband to another repeater and them having to track down the owner to get it shut down.

I think a proposal to do the echolink relay would require statements on how you will insure that it won't interfere with normal operation. Having a control operator at the node would probably go a long way towards that goal.

The other problem you are going to have is operation. Most of the time during the net the repeater carrier doesn't drop so I'm not sure how you will get into the repeater. Does the node radio allow you to transmit even when you are receiving a signal like a regular repeater or is it locked out like the mobile cross band repeaters?

444.300 on Chase Tower is IRLP and Echolink. Maybe we can setup something separate from the net to test out? FYI, we've tried this in the past and only had AZ stations join.

Ok, understandable. Will bag that idea then.

Let's try it again for an IRLP gathering. Before the net next week maybe?

Linking the net on the current set of repeaters isn't going to happen per ARA rules.
