    IRLP Western Reflector Node 9257

Find a repeater node near you and connect to 9257. http://status.irlp.net/index.php?PSTART=5
You will want to announce something like "CALLSIGN accessing IRLP" and then dial the 4 digit node.
To disconnect, dial # and then "Thanks for the use of the IRLP system. CALLSIGN".

I've never tried IRLP, but find it intriguing.

Do I just enter the node that is local to me, and then dial the 9257 node?

    I’m defiantly curious.

You locate a node that you can hit with your radio. Program that in like any other repeater. Then, you only dial the node you are calling. 9257 in this case. You never need to use the 4 digit code for the local repeater. Similar to using a telephone. You don't need your number per se, just the number of who you want to call.

    Thanks!

Closest IRLP repeater is 25mi away, I'll have to see if I can even hit it first.

Thanks to Richard N7IYT and Marty WB7X for joining in. After disconnecting from IRLP, we had a little fun on 2m FM and USB simplex. I'm probably going to skip a few weeks, but plan to post another IRLP Chat for early November.

I tried to hit the repeater from home, but was a bit too far, 25 miles may be an understatement.

If I have time for the next one, I'll drive to the Lake Erie shoreline (4 miles from house) and try from there, should be able to cross the Maumee Bay with my mobile.
