    Default Superstition Hamfest question

HI, I'm new to the world of Ham radio and will be going for my license at Hamfest. I have another question regarding the event and that is, will there be booths or people there that can test/tune my set up? I've got everything installed and have tested it for receive and that seems to work well, but want to make sure the system is doing as well as it can so when I'm on the trails I can get the max distance possible.

    Thanks, Joe

Usually the main thing is to check the antenna and adjust for a low SWR. I don't think there will be a booth specifically setup for that, but many people there that could help you with it.

I can bring my antenna analyzer to check it out. Most newer rigs will have hi swr protection and will alert you if there is a problem. What did you get? And welcome to the hobby. Glad you found us.

BTW, This is the best hamfest in Arizona, IMO. Don't miss it.

Oh no, I plan to be there, if for no other reason, I need to get my license.

You should be fine. The FT-2600M has SWR protection, and you're using a manufactured antenna. Of course, that doesn't mean everything will work "out of the box", but your chances will be better. Be sure to choose good quality coax for the job, too.
