    DMR Radio Suggestions

DMR Radio Suggestions are greatly appreciated

seems we now have a local dmr rpt near Pico Vt

the machine is not brandmeister? only dmarc, so they tell me connectivity is limited

not sure if its worth the leap or not? I'm part of the vermont allstar network already, I have a node & host the hub (all tnx to great info here)

several friends have made the switch & have shown me their radios, I've had one conversation with a guy in Italy to break the ice

however I'm torn as to what make or model to get, both friends are using motos...

I want to be frugal and not break the bank so I'm looking for <$150

seems CSI makes a cs580 for $130 & another $10 for the programming cable

the tyt 380 or 390 seem to be popular, both under my price point

not sure if I need the GPS capability for what its worth ?

thoughts, recommendations, what do you use etc?

    many thanks & 73

I got a bunch of suggestions on qrz

    I went with the MD380

I figured if I didnt like it, it would sell quick here, or if I did I could upgrade radios later on

...spent an hour or so making up my new codeplug for the radio

seems all the codeplugs I could find locally were designed specifically for another ham in another area that were provide by the local dmarc group

now to just get the radio, upload my file & try it out

Looks like you dove into the DMR thing full swing. Enjoy. I made my exit a few years ago but a lot of stuff has been going on there lately.

Sweet setup. Almost the exact same configuration was demonstrated to me at Field Day. Very cool.
