My old rig was an 07 FJ but a couple months ago I traded it in on a Tacoma. The Taco is going to be a little more challenging to mount a radio in. It's got a sunroof that's probably going to keep me from drilling the roof for an NMO mount. The FJ was easy as could be really. You'll find some pics of my radio install in my profile I think.

You should write it up. FJs are good rigs.

Just got a 2001 T4R SR5 with 136k. New to the 4x4 world. Installing a Kenwood TM-V71a soon and Baofeng HT with Moblinkd TNC for APRS for storm spotting.

2015 Tacoma TRD Sport that is getting started on an overland build.
Current radio is a Kenwood TM-281A mounted to the right of the gear lever, moving to a Kenwood TM-V71a. have not decided where I will put it.
Currently going thru ARES certification, and do Summits on the Air in my free time.

86 FJ60 - It's set up as an expedition vehicle rather than a rock crawler. I'll take some photos and upload them.

FJ Cruiser setup for off road cruising, deserts and mountain trails. Radio is an IC7100 for HF, 2 and 70cm and Icom UHF CB Radio to communicate with the wider 4x4 fraternity in Australia. Heading off for a 8 week Outback trip in 2 weeks..
