    2017 Field Day - W7UF Scottsdale ARC & W7AZO 4x4 Ham

    • June 24 @ 1800Z - June 25 @ 2059Z
    • Camp Friday and Saturday nights

    WHERE:

    ARRL OBJECTIVE:
    • To work as many stations as possible on any and all amateur bands (excluding the 60, 30, 17, and 12-meter bands) and to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions. Field Day is open to all amateurs in the areas covered by the ARRL/RAC Field Organizations and countries within IARU Region 2.

    4x4 Ham OBJECTIVE:
    • Escape the Phoenix heat! 112 degrees or 82 degrees, you choose.

    • Socialize and get to know other hams.
    • Show and tell. Radio installations, 4x4 mods, antennas, etc.
    • Testing Session Saturday at 9am.
    • Pot luck meal Saturday night.
    • Family friendly camp.
    • Eat BACON!!!

    Get on the air:
    • We will have enough Extra class operators on site to act as control operator all weekend. What does this mean? Any Technician, General, or even someone without a license can use the radio with Extra privileges on HF under their supervision. It's a great opportunity to learn more about ham radio and get your feet wet.

    • Test for Technician, General, Extra
    • FREE, test session held by Phoenix Amateur Radio Team - http://www.phxham.com/

The Scottsdale ARC plans to operate 2 radios under W7UF. The GOTA station will run under W7AZO.

Bill N9EIV is bringing chicken/burgers and grilling them Saturday evening. Please bring a side or dessert to share with the group. We are also planning breakfast (BACON) on Sunday morning.

How is the road for a 20 foot toy hauler? Its about average height for a race car enclosed trailer.

You should be fine. I'm hauling my 19' travel trailer up there. Take it slow through any rocky sections and watch out for low hanging branches, but it's an RV friendly site.

I'm bringing my dually with a slide in camper on the back. Brought it last year without a problem and one of the other guys towed his camper last year as well. You should have no problem with your toy hauler.

I filmed a quick video from ARRL Field Day 2017 with the 4x4 Hams working the mode for which they are most famous.

My 5 year old son made 14 contacts between the Scottsdale ARC (4x4 Ham GOTA) site and nearby friends K7RTM site. We were able to capture a few of the contacts on video. Evan is looking forward to dominating ARRL Field Day 2018.
